Events are more than just dates on a calendar at Shanan – they are memorable moments that bring our school community to life. Through the dedicated partnership of our PTA parents, staff and learners, each event creates opportunities for connection, celebration and shared purpose.
What makes our PTA unique is its heart: not only to raise funds, but to fulfil its vision of being the “Nurturer of Families through Godly Fellowship.” Alongside impactful fundraising initiatives, the PTA hosts social gatherings, worship evenings and informative workshops that strengthen relationships and support families both spiritually and practically.
From high-energy highlights like the Annual Big Walk Challenge to special occasions such as Christmas Carols and Movie Nights, there is something for everyone. These events are filled with fun and meaningful engagement, while also contributing towards important school needs – such as our recent Laptop Drive and the successful replacement of our school bus.
Together, these moments build a strong, Christ-centred community where our Shanan families feel connected, supported and inspired.
At Shanan, learning and fun extends beyond the classroom. Our termly outings offer learners a variety of opportunities to explore, celebrate and enjoy memorable moments together.
These experiences range from fun excursions – such as visits to Benoni Monkey and Bird Park, tenpin bowling and adventure golf – to simple yet meaningful rewards like ice cream or pancake outings for learners who go the extra mile in areas such as Scripture learning and personal achievement. Learners also benefit from educational experiences, including interactive programmes like Mini Science Lab and Mobile Zoo visits.
While some outings are designed purely for enjoyment and relationship-building, others enrich the academic programme through real-world exposure and hands-on learning. Together, these experiences play an important role in reinforcing learning, strengthening friendships and creating a positive, motivating school environment.
