At Shanan, we believe that education extends far beyond the classroom. Physical activity, competition and creative expression play a vital role in developing confident, disciplined, and well-rounded learners. Our sports and culture program gives learners the opportunity to discover and grow their God-given talents.
Our Sports & Culture programme provides meaningful opportunities for learners to discover, develop, and celebrate their God-given talents in a supportive, Christ-centred environment.
From early coordination and fun participation in the Foundation Phase through to competitive sport, Eisteddfods, Olympiads and the All Africa Student Convention (AASC), learners are guided to grow in skill, character and confidence. Whether on the sports field, stage, or in academic and creative competitions, every learner is encouraged to participate, excel and enjoy the journey of growth.
At Shanan, spiritual growth is a key part of our school culture, shaping learners through discipleship, Scripture, mission trips and worship. Discipleship is guided by a yearly Scripture theme and supported through daily devotions and weekly small group sessions led by senior learners.
Scripture memorization is also embedded in our Christian education, helping learners internalize and apply God’s Word.
Senior learners are given opportunities to serve on mission trips across Southern Africa, sharing the Gospel through word and action in schools, churches and communities.
Worship is a vibrant part of school life, expressed through assemblies, learner-led worship and special gatherings with parents, where our school community comes together in praise and prayer.
Shanan nurtures the whole learner through meaningful programmes that build character, purpose and life skills. The ‘His Servants’ programme develops Christ-like character through service, guiding learners from personal faith to serving family, school and community as they grow.
The ‘Smart Choices’ programme provides a values-based, CAPS-aligned life skills curriculum that supports age-appropriate learning while strengthening Biblical foundations and home–school partnership. Career Development helps learners discover their strengths, explore interests and begin to understand future pathways with confidence and purpose. The Learner Representative Body (LRB) gives learners a voice in school life, developing leadership, responsibility and active participation. Together, these experiences shape confident, values-driven learners equipped to serve, lead and thrive.
